How to Store a Huge Squishmallow Collection: 50, 100, 200
Last updated: September 2026
The short answer: stop shopping and start sorting. Keep 10 to 15 on display, put the rotation in over the door pockets, and send the long tail to a wall net up high. At 50 plush that is one organizer, $30.95, about $0.62 each. At 100 to 120 it is the door plus a net, $55.85, about $0.47 each. Past that, add a second net. Sort by size, never by character.
We make stuffed animal storage and have since 2021, including three of the types below, so read knowing our bias. This is a capacity plan, not an ideas list, and every price below is one we publish.
First, sort the squad into four tiers
Collectors do not respond to "cut a third". They respond to promote and demote. Every plush gets a tier, and tiers can change.
- On display: 10 to 15. Favorites, rare ones, whatever is in season. The number is fixed, so something new goes up only when something else steps down.
- In rotation: the door pockets. Everything you still reach for. Visible, breathable, roughly 50 plush on one door.
- Deep storage: up high. The long tail you love but never pick up. A wall net or corner hammock near the ceiling, in open air, not in a box.
- Out of the house. Duplicates, hunt buys, anything stained or flat. Sell, gift, or donate.
Do this before you buy anything. Most people who think they need more storage need fewer plush and one good piece.
The storage split at 50, 100 and 200 plush
What each stage actually costs, at our prices and published capacities.
| Collection size | What you need | Total | Per plush | Floor space |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Up to 50 | Original over the door organizer Our pick | $30.95 | About $0.62 | None |
| 100 to 120 | Organizer plus a wall or corner net at $24.90 | $55.85 | About $0.47 | None |
| Up to 190 | Organizer plus two nets | $80.75 | About $0.42 | None |
| Up to 170, decor first | Organizer, net, and macrame hammock at $32.95 | $88.80 | About $0.52 | None |
The door carries the rotation, the net carries the archive, and cost per plush falls as the collection grows. Load the door bottom pocket first, so the weight sits low.

$30.95 at HoneyeraSize decides where a Squishmallow lives, character does not
Squishmallows run from 3.5 inch clip ons to 24 inch jumbos. Sorting by squad or color looks lovely for a week and then breaks, because the shelf that holds a row of minis holds one jumbo.
Clip ons and 5 inch minis go many to a pocket. Mediums are the bulk of most collections and the reason the door pockets exist. Jumbos take a pocket each, or sit in the hammock where nothing is stacked on them. For the ones that stay visible, our Squishmallow display guide covers shelf and wall setups.
What ruins a collection once it passes 100
Damage at volume is different from ordinary wear. Five failure modes do most of it.
- The bottom of the pile. Buried plush stays compressed for months and never regains loft.
- The bed crowd. Plush that sleeps on the bed gets flattened and shoved nightly. Cap that number.
- Jumbos on mediums. Stack heavy over light and the light ones lose shape permanently.
- The sealed tote in a garage or attic. Heat, damp and no airflow, which is where mildew and the closed box smell come from.
- The window side. A pile next to glass fades on one face only, which you notice the day you move it.
Most Squishmallow tags say surface wash only, so spot clean, air dry fully, and never put a damp plush into storage. Our Squishmallow storage and care guide has the rest of the rules.
The rotation habit that stops the count from winning
Everyone says rotate. Nobody says how. Here is the version that survives a real collection.
- Fix the display number. 10 to 15 out, and that count never moves.
- Use three triggers. A new arrival demotes one. The first of the month swaps three. Each season swaps the themed set.
- Demote one tier, never to the floor. Display goes to the door pockets, door overflow goes to the net.
- Empty the net once a year. Anything not promoted in twelve months is a candidate for the fourth tier.
FAQ
How many Squishmallows fit on one door?
About 50 mid size plush in 4 deep pockets on the Original organizer. Jumbos take a pocket each, clip ons go several to a pocket.
Where do you put Squishmallows when you run out of wall space?
Go overhead and go behind. A corner net near the ceiling, a hammock across a dead corner, the back of every door. Under the bed works in a breathable cotton bag, never a tote.
How often should you rotate a big Squishmallow collection?
Swap three on the first of the month, swap the themed set each season, and demote one every time a new plush arrives.
How do you store seasonal Squishmallows between holidays?
Spot clean, dry fully, then store them in open air: top door pockets or a net beat any box. Keep them out of direct sun and skip vacuum bags, which kill loft permanently.
How do you decide which Squishmallows to keep out and which to store?
Set the display number first, 10 to 15, then rank by what you actually reach for, not by rarity. Everything else moves to the rotation pockets, which is storage, not exile.
Still choosing hardware? Our comparison of the best Squishmallow storage options puts every type side by side. If you know the answer is vertical, start with the Original patented over the door organizer and add the wall net when the door fills up.
